Specialty cardiology testing performed includes:

Electrocardiograms (EKG): This is a graphic recording of the electrical activity of the heart.

Echocardiograms: This tests uses sound waves to create a picture of the heart.

Holter Monitoring: A device worn for a continuous period of time (3-14 days) that provides EKG readings

Nuclear Medicine Testing: This diagnostic tool involves the injection or ingestion of a small, harmless quantity of radioactive material which accurately detects the flow and function of different organs of your body.

Stress Testing: This test shows how the heart works during physical activity.
Melissa Barker, FNP-C
Melissa is a certified Family Nure Practitioner with a primary focus in Women's Health and 25 years of experience in healthcare. Her extensive clinical background includes 15 years as a Labor and Delivery nurse with firsthand experience caring for women during pregnancy, labor, delivery and the post-partum period. Melissa spent two years practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in a busy rural family medicine office followed by the past six years with Union Health OB/GYN. This combination of nursing and advanced practice experience has provided Melissa with a broad understanding of women’s health care across the lifespan, with a particular passion for providing compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care.
Melissa is passionate about rural health and improving access to quality women’s healthcare in communities where services and providers may be limited. She is committed to helping address gaps in care while building lasting relationships with her patients and providing care that is both accessible and patient centered.
Melissa completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Indiana State University. A lifelong resident of the Wabash Valley, she has deep family ties to Greene County and a strong personal connection to the communities she serves. She is proud to bring her experience, passion for women’s health, and commitment to rural healthcare to the region. Melissa believes that every woman deserves access to knowledgeable, compassionate healthcare close to home, and she is committed to helping make that possible for the women and families of the Wabash Valley.
