Therapy-TULIP-5.jpg

TULIP Award

The GCGH Therapy Department is feeling good! That's because therapy staff are our latest TULIP Award winners! The TULIP Award is given to a specific department for their exceptional dedication and diligence at GCGH!

The therapy team received two nominations from patients who say staff don't just help you recover— they work you hard, push you past your limits, and somehow make you laugh through the sweat and soreness. They know when to cheer you on, when to challenge you, and when to simply wrap you in a hug because that's what you need most. They are encouragers, motivators, and comforters all rolled into one powerhouse unit. Like 5-star generals, they lead with strength, strategy, and compassion. They command your respect not with rank, but with relentless dedication and heart. Every session feels like a mission, and they make sure you leave stronger, physically and emotionally, than when you arrived. They restore hope, rebuild confidence, and remind you that healing is not just about the body, but also the spirit. Patients say there is a strong sense of camaraderie in our therapy department. The team works together and are very conscious of their shared space and respectful of the needs of each therapist and patient.

Way to go GCGH Therapy Team! You are all so very much appreciated and loved!

Leader-2025-6.jpg

Outstanding Leader of the Year Award 2025

Congratulations to Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics Theo Gardner as our 2025 Outstanding Leader of the Year!

Each year, hospital administration team members accept nominations from staff for this annual award. Theo received multiple nominations— all noting that he is a selfless, communicative, and dedicated leader. Theo's staff say it's an honor to work for a director who approaches each day with positivity and a genuine smile, regardless of the challenges ahead. They say his positive attitude is contagious, and he serves his team and patients with enthusiasm and compassion. His team praises Theo for his willingness to lend a hand wherever needed no matter the task. Staff say Theo consistently listens to their concerns, values their input, and ensures that every team member feels heard, respected, and appreciated.

Theo began a career in healthcare in 2003 as a receptionist, discovering early on a passion for serving others and supporting patients. That commitment has guided more than two decades of experience in patient care and healthcare leadership. In 2010, he earned a certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), strengthening the foundation of clinical knowledge and professional expertise. In 2014, Theo began working with General Surgeon Dr. Cam Gabrielsen and their professional partnership ultimately brought both to GCGH. Theo says, "Throughout this journey, Dr. Gabrielsen has been a trusted mentor and friend, providing guidance and support every step of the way. I credit this mentorship as instrumental in professional growth and would not be in my current role without his leadership and encouragement. Thank you, Dr Cam."

Theo says the moment he arrived at GCGH; it was clear there was something special about the organization. Theo has served as Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics since December of 2022 and says working alongside an amazing team of employees who are dedicated and collaborative has been essential to success. "I value the culture at Greene County General Hospital and describe it as a place that truly feels like family— one where patient care and patient satisfaction are always the top priorities.", says Theo. Thank you, Theo, for being a wonderful leader! We value YOU every day!
