PETAL Award

"If it can be fixed, Will can fix it." — That's a phrase we hear often at GCGH regarding our latest PETAL Award Winner, Will Smith!

Will is a Maintenance Technician at GCGH. He was nominated for this award by two fellow employees who say Will is always friendly and kind and is always willing to help in any way he can. Recently, there was an issue with temperature regulation in one of our hospital offices. There was no thermostat in this area, and the temperature would fluctuate to extremes, making it difficult for staff to use the space. Will tried several different things to correct the problem and didn't give up! He installed a new thermostat, making the office comfortable for staff to use. Coworkers say Will always stays positive, even when he faces a challenge.

Will, you are so appreciated for all the work you do to help our hospital run smoothly every day. Thank you and congratulations!

He's a guy with a positive attitude, a guy who's all about teamwork, and a guy whose dedication makes a real difference— he's James Moudy, RT(R)(CT) and he's GCGH's latest PETAL Award Winner!

James is a Radiologic Technologist at GCGH. He was nominated for this award by a fellow coworker in our Surgery Department. They say James consistently goes above his call of duty, especially after hours in Surgery doing late cases or getting called back in late at night. James is always willing to lend a hand wherever he's needed, whether it's assisting with patient transport, preparing rooms, or helping coworkers during busy times.

Congratulations, James! We appreciate you and all you do for your patients and coworkers at GCGH!

Outstanding Leader of the Year Award 2025

Congratulations to Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics Theo Gardner as our 2025 Outstanding Leader of the Year!

Each year, hospital administration team members accept nominations from staff for this annual award. Theo received multiple nominations— all noting that he is a selfless, communicative, and dedicated leader. Theo's staff say it's an honor to work for a director who approaches each day with positivity and a genuine smile, regardless of the challenges ahead. They say his positive attitude is contagious, and he serves his team and patients with enthusiasm and compassion. His team praises Theo for his willingness to lend a hand wherever needed no matter the task. Staff say Theo consistently listens to their concerns, values their input, and ensures that every team member feels heard, respected, and appreciated.

Theo began a career in healthcare in 2003 as a receptionist, discovering early on a passion for serving others and supporting patients. That commitment has guided more than two decades of experience in patient care and healthcare leadership. In 2010, he earned a certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), strengthening the foundation of clinical knowledge and professional expertise. In 2014, Theo began working with General Surgeon Dr. Cam Gabrielsen and their professional partnership ultimately brought both to GCGH. Theo says, "Throughout this journey, Dr. Gabrielsen has been a trusted mentor and friend, providing guidance and support every step of the way. I credit this mentorship as instrumental in professional growth and would not be in my current role without his leadership and encouragement. Thank you, Dr Cam."

Theo says the moment he arrived at GCGH; it was clear there was something special about the organization. Theo has served as Director of Orthopedics and Specialty Clinics since December of 2022 and says working alongside an amazing team of employees who are dedicated and collaborative has been essential to success. "I value the culture at Greene County General Hospital and describe it as a place that truly feels like family— one where patient care and patient satisfaction are always the top priorities.", says Theo. Thank you, Theo, for being a wonderful leader! We value YOU every day!
