

Greene County General Hospital’s orthopedics and sports medicine center, TeamOrtho, is Greene County’s only orthopedic clinic. TeamOrtho, located in Linton, Indiana, is home to the county’s only board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. John Hammerstein and several certified athletic trainers dedicated to the students of Greene County. Dr. Hammerstein performs orthopedic surgical services exclusively at Greene County General Hospital as well as practices in the former Ridge Medical Center building located in front of Greene County General Hospital at 1043 North 1000 West Linton, Indiana 47441. Onsite Radiology
TeamOrtho Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center offers onsite Radiology. This helps patients from always needing to make an additional imaging appointment at GCGH or other facilities. For more information, talk with the TeamOrtho staff during your visit.

John Hammerstein, MD
John Hammerstein, MD (Doctor of Medicine) is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician. Dr. Hammerstein is a 1996 graduate of Indiana University and a later graduate of IU’s School of Medicine. He played football for Indiana University and was a starter for his final three years on the team. Dr. Hammerstein was also voted team captain his senior year.
Dr. Hammerstein completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the esteemed Andrew’s Research and Education Foundation in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He began the fellowship to broaden his orthopedics practice by gaining experience in sports medicine. While there, he actively participated in team coverage of Division 1 football with the Auburn Tigers and oversaw local high school athletic teams. He’s glad to be back in Indiana, “after growing up in small town America I have wanted to practice in a place like Greene County where patients are also your neighbors.” Dr. Hammerstein enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. Jed Arseneau, MA, LAT, ATC
Jed Arseneau, MA, LAT, ATC is TeamOrtho's lead athletic trainer. Jed is a Licensed (LAT) and Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Jed received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Athletic Training from Eastern Illinois University in 2003. He continued his education at Indiana State University and received his master's degree (MA) in Recreation and Sports Management in 2009. Jed provides athletic training services to student athletes at Greene County school and in the TeamOrtho clinic. He also provides athletic training for the USA diving Organization. Jed lives in Terre Haute with his wife and two daughters, who are active in several sports.

Alexis Deetz, MA, LAT, ATC
Alexis (Lexy) Deetz MS, ATC, LAT is from Avilla, IN which is a small farm town in northern Indiana. She moved to the “big city” to attend Indiana University Bloomington. She graduated from Indiana University in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart in May of 2023. One month later Alexis returned to Indiana University to pursue a master’s degree in Athletic Training. Upon graduating in May of 2025, she became a nationally board certified athletic trainer with a license to practice in Indiana. Alexis will be serving Greene County as the sole athletic trainer at Bloomfield High School starting this fall. She and her husband live a short drive away in Owensburg with their dog Dixie, and their cat George.
