Welcome Dr. Marcus Thorne, MD

Beginning Dec. 14, Marcus Thorne, MD, an orthopedics and sports medicine specialist, will begin seeing patients at Greene County General Hospital.

He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and a member of the Indiana State Medical Association and the Notre Dame Orthopedic Society.

He has special interest in general orthopedics, including joint replacement, as well as sports medicine and treating sports injuries.

Dr. Thorne also provides treatment of:

  • Rotator cuff impingement, labral tears, shoulder dislocation and shoulder arthritis
  • Hand fractures and dislocation, sprains, strains and muscle or ligament tears, injuries to tendons, nerves, or vessels, and numbness or weakness in the hand or arm (including carpal tunnel syndrome)
  • Arthritis, contractures, swelling or inflammation of the joints; knee ligament and meniscus injuries; knee and hip replacement; and treatment of tennis elbow, neuritis, and tendonitis.

An Indianapolis Cathedral High School graduate, Dr. Throne graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame where he played football under the direction of Coach Lou Holtz. He earned his MD at the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency programs at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
