Greene County General Hospital Foundation Insures Excellence
With the increasing cost of hospitalization and social programs providing insurance coverage, the public more and more believes that hospitals should be able to meet needs without gift dollars. The fact is, however, that increases and pervasive governmental controls of health care and third party payers not paying "their fair share" makes it difficult to generate the funding necessary to insure continued medical excellence.
We must plan for the future by laying solid foundations, encompassing both technological advances and human needs. There exists no middle ground between advancement and obsolescence in health care. It becomes more imperative to generate charitable support to assure future maintenance and progress. Especially since the hospital receives no actual operating money from the county and, therefore, in financially self-sufficient and at risk.
Although the changes that have taken place regarding health and hospital care in the past several years have resulted in operational and strategic adjustments, the hospital's long standing commitment to the people to offer high quality medical care at the lowest possible cost has not changed. The roles and responsibilities have been modified during this transition and the hospital strives to meet the immediate and future needs of the community while remaining financially viable.
The Hospital Foundation was organized and will continue to be the sole use and benefit of Greene County General Hospital. The general purpose of the foundation is to improve the facilities and services of the hospital; raise and expend funds for capital improvements, educational programs and medical or hospital related research; and provide financial assistance for the improvement of health, safety and general welfare of the hospital and thus the community.
Donations to the hospital can be made by anyone concerned with helping others and with the medical care one or one's family may need. Memorial funds have also become familiar at Greene County General Hospital. The memory of loved ones and friends are enhanced through gifts to the foundation.
